Intro to Split Work
This foundational session focuses on key prerequisites for front split training without entering full split range. We emphasize proprioception, control, and tissue tolerance using movements that explore half split and diagonal lunge positions.
You’ll work through:
Standing & Floor Hinges: Strengthen the posterior chain and build active pike range.
Hip Flexor Work: Target reciprocal inhibition and glute engagement to support front-line lengthening.
You may wish to familiarlize with some of the terms used or techniques referred to throughout the video:
Eccentric Loading: Develop strength while lengthening tissues—crucial for improving flexibility with control.
Isometric Holds: Build joint stability and neuromuscular control at challenging ranges.
End-Range Pulsing
Small, controlled movements performed at the edge of your active range of motion.Reciprocal Inhibition: Use strategic muscle activation to facilitate release in opposing groups.
Nerve Flossing/Gliding: Explore drills to improve neural mobility without overstretching.
Body Brushing: A sensory warm-up to prime proprioception and nervous system readiness.
Ideal for movers building toward full splits, or refining alignment and capacity in their mid-range work.
